Our Secrets To An Awe-Inspiring Instagram

Updated: May 24, 2021

Instagram has absolutely exploded over the last few years, with half a billion active users as of 2017, opening up huge opportunities for marketing by the platform. Bad new for the insta-haters; in many industries, you may become unconnected without a strong account.

Whether you are running adverts, reaching out to social influencers or simply expanding your brand awareness, Instagram can be a great marketing tool provided you’re using it properly. Here at LUCA Digital, we have decided to share with you the three apps that we use for planning ALL the time. For us, they’re vital, they keep us organised and they make our accounts look AWESOME. Yeah, you can thank us later.

PLANN (similar to Hootsuite, UNUM & Latergram)

One of our favour apps here at LUCA Digital is the PLANN app. This app allows you to play around with multiple images in the format in which they will be seen on your Instagram profile. You are also able to edit photos, schedule posts and post them directly to Instagram via the app. It keeps your photos visually organised, allows you to create a themed look for your account, forces you to plan captions and hash-tags in advance and best of all, it sends you reminders to post!

Why you need it:

  • Drag and drop media

  • Visually plan in advance for design and follower growth purposes

  • Put planning and organisation behind your Instagram stories.

  • Check competitor analytics

  • Image editing & text overlay tools

  • Review your performance with analytics such as best times to post, best performing hash-tags, best performing colour schemes and so on.

Pinterest

Yep! Surprisingly enough, this little beauty of an app is our life-saver. Trust us when we say sign up for Pinterest TODAY. It will help… IMMENSELY. Basically, we use it to collect, organise and file images we plan to use on our accounts. Of course, we use plenty from outside of Pinterest, but it will keep you inspired when you’re just not feeling that creative spark (say Mondays!). One thing we do encourage however is crediting where credit is due, this is really important and will keep you out of deep copyright/crediting water. If you’re not sure how to do this, click here.

Why you need it

  • Collect and organise images to use on your Instagram account

  • Save directly to your camera roll (just remember to credit later!)

  • Suggested inspiration for when you’re feeling a bit humdrum.

Followers (Similar to Crowdfire, Unfollowgram etc.)

Followers make it easy for you to keep a clean following list, allowing you to support your fans, unfollow those seemingly uninterested in your brand and find potential clients. While you may feel like a bit of a creep, it’s important to keep these lists clean, after all, it’s the dedicated followers that you want to direct your marketing towards.

Why you need it:

  • Non followers: Easily unfollow users that do not follow you back

  • Copy followers: follow users who follow certain Instagram accounts i.e. a competitor or industry leader

  • Fans: Users that follow you, but you do not follow back

  • Unfollowers: people who have unfollowed you since linking your account

  • New followers: new followers since linking your account
